Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry
Cairo - Arab Today

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left for the Ugandan capital, Kampala, Monday on a visit during which he will hand over a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

In statements on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid said Shoukry's visit falls within the framework of consultations with Nile Basin countries on boosting bilateral cooperation.

The two sides will discuss the Nile water file and Ugandan efforts to achieve consensus among the Nile Basin countries in light of Ugandan's current presidency of the Nile Council of Ministers (Nile-COM) of the Nile Basin Initiative, the spokesman added.

During his visit, Shoukry will follow up the implementation of projects carried out by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development in Kampala, he said.

The two sides will also have consultations on conditions in the Horn of Africa in particular and the African continent in general, the spokesman added.
