Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi attended the meetings of the Deputies Chairman Committee of the 39th general conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) which are held at the organisation’s headquarters in Paris, in the presence of the conference chairperson and her deputies, the organisation’s Director General, senior officials and experts.

The committee discussed a number of resolutions related to the conference’s committees and solving the difference in the Educational Committee between the member states regarding the voting mechanism on the resolution submitted by a number of Arab countries, including Bahrain, on educational and cultural institutions in the occupied Arab lands. The resolution reminds of the role that should be played by UNESCO to ensure all enjoy the right to education and the Palestinians’ safe access to educational institutions. A solution has been reached in concordance with the law regulating the committees’ work to pass the resolution with an overwhelming majority.

The Education Minister and his accompanying delegation also attended a key symposium organised by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the International Education Bureau in Geneva, in the presence of many ministers and senior officials. The symposium shed light on the efforts to develop the educational curricula in all disciplines at the international level as well as carry out training programmes for teachers.

Marking UNESCO’s inauguration of Education for All report 2017-2018, the Bahraini delegation participated in a symposium for the report’s periodic review which stressed the role of the report in monitoring progress in achieving the sustainable development goals in education.

The Education Minister lauded the importance of the report as a global source of information and studies and an effective tool to spotlight challenges facing education in the world and the pivotal role of education in achieving sustainable development.
