Ahmed el-Tayyeb asserts national role of Azhar

Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed el-Tayyeb asserted on Sunday that Azhar's role was and will always be a national role, pointing out that Azhar has no part in politics. Tayyeb called for uniting efforts of parties, institutions and citizens in order to achieve Egyptians' hopes and aspirations. These remarks came during a meeting with a British delegation that includes a number of members of House of Lords and House of Commons and representatives from human rights organizations and parties. Tayyeb hoped that Egypt will restore its cultural, economic and political power as soon as possible. The delegation asserted that the British people are closely following the incidents occurring in Egypt and hoping that Egyptians will reach stability and fulfill their hopes and aspirations.
