33rd Sharjah International Book Fair
Sharjah - Arab Today

Bee’ah, the Sharjah Environment Co - the Middle East’s leading and award-winning fully integrated environment and waste management company intends to procure a number of environmental books in Arabic and English, and in other languages if available, from the exhibitors at the 33rd Sharjah International Book Fair, and to supply its library with those books which contribute to promote the culture of environmental awareness among the company’s employees, clients and all who seek to learn about the critical importance of the environment and how to protect it. The company has allocated a budget of AED500,000 for this purpose.
The books will be displayed in the company’s new headquarters, which were announced yesterday, as part of an open-to-the-public library in the visitor center. The new library will be affiliated with the Gulf Ecosystems Research Centre, which was established in mid-2012 by Bee’ah in partnership with AUS, with the aim to serve the community and the region in sustaining its natural resources by conducting research on the Gulf’s ecosystems and offering advice on long-term solutions to ecological problems.
HE Salem bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of Bee’ah, said that the company formed a team for this purpose to visit all the publishing houses exhibiting at the fair, list the available environmental books they have and submit the list for review and selection.
He added that the step is part of Bee’ah’s contribution to raising environmental awareness and leveraging the ideas, opinions and theories contained in these books. He said that the company would do the same in the coming editions of the fair, in order to stay up to date on the latest environmental publications from local, regional, and international publishers. He explained that this move is important to encourage reading in the wide realm of environment preservation and sustainable practices.
He emphasised that the company is relentlessly committed to its goal of achieving zero-waste to landfill in Sharjah, inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to protect the environment in the Emirate and ensure a sustainable environment for future generations.
Bee’ah, was established in 2007 in partnership with Sharjah Municipality to jointly develop programmes and measures that ensure Sharjah will be the model of an emirate that pays attention to all areas of public welfare, with a special focus on educating the youth and community.
