In a statement on the occasion of the International Women's Day, Al Roumi said that Sheikha Fatima has provided all possible support to women to empower them to restore their rights and played an active role in empowering women to realise their potential through her local, regional and international initiatives and projects.
She added that on 8 March every year, the UAE women join millions of women around the world in celebrating the International Women's Day to showcase the achievements they have made, since the establishment of the UAE Federation by the founding father, in all spheres including education, work and political and social life.
Yet, Al Roumi added, the UAE women continue to play their important role as mothers raising generations on authentic Arab values and instilling loyalty to homeland and tolerance in their children, and promoting international peace, justice and human rights.
This year, e International Women's Day is devoted to the theme, "Empower Women, Empower Humanity - Picture It!".
The UN theme for International Women's Day 2015 is "Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!".
