Yemen Journalists Syndicate Sanaa – Ali Rabea Yemeni authorities warned foreign media correspondents against practicing their journalism work without obtaining a license. The authorities said that they would apply local laws on the violators in addition to warning local sources about dealing with them.
The ministry stressed in the decree distributed among local media outlets that it would apply the law relentlessly that bans media work for foreign agencies without a prior license renewed every two years.
The practice license issued by Yemeni authorities is a condition for a journalist to work in the country. It is valid for two years for Yemeni journalists while foreign and Arab journalists get a licence valid for one year according to applied laws in Yemen.
A journalistic training course has also just been launched in Sanaa. Organised by the Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate in cooperation with the International Federation of Journalists, it focuses on negotiation skills and union work in media corporations.
The training, held for three days in Sanaa, targets more than 20 trainees and is supervised by Danish experts. The vice president of the IFJ and President of the Journalists’ Syndicate in Morocco Younis Mujahid will also participate in the course.
