Syrian state television
Damascus - Agencies

Syrian state television The Nilesat satellite operator stopped broadcasting Syrian state television on Wednesday. Pro-government al-Ekhbaria and Addounia TV also ceased transmission. The Arab League officially asked the satellite operators of Arabsat and Nilesat to stop broadcasting Syrian media, either public or private, such as Syria TV, al-Ekhbaria and Addounai.
The decision has been seen by the Syrian government as an attempt to mute Syrians. The Syrian government also said the decision runs against international media laws.
The Arab League's decision includes the continuation of state and pro-government media but it did not include opposition channels.
Earlier in the day, state television said Syrian troops clashed with armed groups that attacked a broadcast centre near Latakia.
