Dubai - Arab Today

Google has captured images for its 'Street View Collections' Don’t think you’ll be making a trip to Dubai anytime soon? No need to fret, as Google's latest Street View project gives armchair travelers 360-degree views of the city from the tallest building in the world. If you suffer from vertigo, it's perhaps the best way to experience the Burj Khalifa, one of the most impressive feats of engineering in the 21st century, standing 828 meters (2,716.5 ft) tall.
The project marks Google’s first time capturing a skyscraper on Street View and the first of its Street View Collections in the Arab world.
Collected over three days using backpack-mounted cameras known as the Street View Trekker and Trolley, the high-resolution images provide 360-degree panoramic views of the building’s interior and exterior space.
For the project, operators hung outside the windows of the 80th floor via window-washing platforms, scaled narrow passageways up the building, and patrolled the manicured grounds of the building to give viewers a complete tour of Dubai’s iconic landmark.
Virtual tours of the "Vertical City" include a visit to the highest occupied floor in the world - the 163rd floor - the highest swimming pool in the world at floor No. 76, and the world’s tallest observation deck, up 124 stories high.
Earlier this year, Google team members hiked the trails of the Grand Canyon to capture images of the Bright Angel Trail and the Colorado River.
And in 2011, Google also collected footage of the Canadian Arctic and the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.
