UAE Ministry of Health (MoH)
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

UAE Ministry of Health (MoH) The Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a new service enabling the citizens and the residents in the UAE to look into data of nearly 7500 registered drugs within the country via smart phones. The data relating to the drugs will be constantly updated to keep up with the concerned developments, particularly the newly added and registered drugs, as well as the withdrawn ones, the MoH added.
According to Dr Amin Al Amiri, assistant under-secretary for Medical Practice and Licence at the Ministry of Health, the move is the first regarding information about drugs on smart phones. It allows the users to know about the prices of drugs, and it also provides communication with the MoH to inquire about complications of some drugs, in addition to giving feedback about the performance of pharmacies.
The launch of this service on smart phones came in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai that stressed the need to provide the government services through the smart phones, Al Amiri added.
Any citizen, resident or a visitor in UAE can access the system and learn the name of the drug according to the type and the category, in addition to the chemical substance and the manufacturer name, whether local, regional or global, he said.
Through the service, the consumer will be able to know the drug's dosages, the packet, the type (shape), the uses and the accredited price with the MoH, Al Amiri said
In a continued context, the MoH has announced that the patients within the next period can be treated via their smart phones. Doctor will be able to follow up with the patients, diagnose the disease and determine the suitable medicine, wherever he/she is. A new law will be legalised to allow treating the patient through the smart phones, the MoH confirmed.
