Morocco's street art festival will be held in September
Casablanca - Said Bounowar
Morocco's street art festival will be held in September Over 500 male and female dancers will participate in the ninth annual international street arts festival in Meknes, Morocco next September. The event’s organiser are keen to move away from the past image of the festival only being concerned with belly dancing and hip shaking. This year all things street and creative will be celebrated – from graffiti, rap, beat-boxing, free-styling, football and revolutionary world music.
The festival is considered to be the biggest of its kind. France, America, Tunisia, Algeria, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Turkey, Brazil and Senegal have all confirmed they will be participating in the events competitions. Many global music bands have also lined up to take part in the show.
Director of the festival said: “Art has helped many young people who felt shunned by society and turned to taking drugs and pretty crime. They now have something to focus their energy on. Taking part in team sports also teaches them self-discipline.”
The urban gala continues to grow each year and this year’s celebration looks set to be the biggest yet.
