Economy and the citizens' welfare was at the heart of the debate during the Cabinet meeting held at Baabda Palace. Prime Minister Mikati said: " We have a social duty and a responsibility towards the Lebanese whom we know the legitimacy of their demands. However, we also have a responsibility to protect the country and keep its economy safe in the light of the scarcity of country’s financial resources and the difficult economic condition."
Sleiman stated that no tax will be imposed on citizens in order to improve the financial stability of the country. A Baabda source told Arabstoday that the main priority was to decide on a wage reform in the public sector in order to meet the Lebanese people's demands.
