Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Senior officials of Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations Ltd., ADCO, were presented with framed stamps issued by Emirates Post on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first crude oil shipment and 75th anniversary of the oil concession agreement.

Abdul Munim Saif Al-Kindy, Chief Executive Officer, ADCO, and Hussain Sultan Lootah, Senior Vice President (Support Services), ADCO, received the ornamental frames from Mohammad Kamal, Executive Director, Business Development, Emirates Post Group.

The officials expressed their appreciation of the stamps and said that they hoped to continue the on-going relationship with EPG in the field of stamps and other philatelic services as well as explore new projects in this area.

Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, EPG, while lauding ADCO's move to celebrate its milestones through postage stamps, said, "Creating stamps to mark major occasions is an ideal way to preserve for posterity the achievements of an organisation. Emirates Post Group is offering cost-effective and value-added services in this field, and we are now equipped to customise stamps to the needs of individual companies, as we realise that corporates attach great importance to celebratory stamps."

The stamps were issued by Emirates Post Group on April 2nd, 2015, on the occasion of the signing of the original concession agreement by the Ruler of Abu Dhabi on January 11th, 1939, with Petroleum Development (Trucial Coast) Ltd. The first commercial oil discovery in the onshore concession was made at Bab field in 1960, and on December 14th, 1963, crude oil shipment began from Jebel Dhanna Terminal.

ADCO continues to contribute to the development of Abu Dhabi and the UAE, in accordance with the visionary policies of the Rulers, whose concern has always been the prudent use of the wealth and seeking prosperity for future generations.
