Sharjah Children's Reading Festival The U.A.E. Board on Books for Young People is gearing up to participate in the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, which will take place at Sharjah Expo Centre from 15th-25th April, with a line-up of workshops and reading sessions as part of the 'Read, Dream, Create' initiative.
The first activity by the UAEBBY during this participation will be the launch of the 6th Etisalat Award for Arabic Children's Literature, an AED1 million award that aims to encourage publishers to adopt children books and inspire writers and illustrators to develop their skills and tools and improve the quality of language used in these books, which will both serve children literature and enrich their culture.
Marwa Obaid Al Aqroubi, President of the UAEBBY Executive Board, said, "We are eager to enhance our participation in Sharjah Children's Reading Festival as the largest event in the U.A.E. that gathers children and young adults throughout 11 days. We would like to benefit from this annual gathering and to communicate with young audience, authors, illustrators, publishers and all children book professionals and to introduce our projects and initiatives to them. We want them also to join us in the reading sessions which we organise in the presence of writers and illustrators to create better interaction between children and writers of their books".
She added, "During this participation, we will launch the 6th Etisalat Award for Arabic Children?s Literature, which is considered as one of the most important awards dedicated to children's literature in the Arab World. This award aims to enrich the culture reading and to instil the love of Arabic books in the hearts of children by highlighting the best works of writers, illustrators and publishers."
