Multaqa Zayed National Museum
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The Multaqa Zayed National Museum series returned yesterday with a discussion held at Manarat Al Saadiyat on the archaeological excavations that have helped experts around the world develop a better understanding of the UAE's rich history.
Dr. Walid Al Tikriti, Head of Archaeology Section at the Historic Environment Department, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture, and Eisa Yousif, Archaeology Department, Media and Culture Authority, Sharjah, explored the topic of 'Unearthing a Rich History', through important archaeological sites such as Jebel Faya in Sharjah, Jebel Barakah in Al Gharbia, Ed-Dur in Umm Al Qaiwain and a Christian monastery on Sir Bani Yas Island, among others. The discussion was moderated by Sara Abdullah, Archaeologist – Department of Archaeology at the Architectural Heritage Department at Dubai Municipality.
Presented by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, the Multaqa Zayed National Museum series will hold 3 more panel discussions; on 18th March 2015 "Al Nahyan Sheiks: Governance, Politics and Diplomacy", on 16th April 2015 "The Emergence of a Great Leader", and on 20th May 2015 "The Five Year Plan".
Introducing Zayed National Museum to the public, and telling the story of the UAE through the life and achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the series will take place across various locations including Manarat Al Saadiyat, Qasr Al Hosn and Al Ain Palace Museum.
Zayed National Museum will celebrate the unification of the Emirates and their transformation into a modern nation under Sheikh Zayed (1918–2004), the ‘Father of the Nation,' within the context of the Middle East and the wider world. Designed for the public, the museum will enable visitors to encounter an unparalleled collection of art and artefacts from ancient and living cultures of the UAE and the wider Middle East.
