The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development launched yesterday world's first Arab and Islamic culture and Arts e-museum under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development. The event was attended by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
The e-museum will showcase the artistic works through the Giga Pixel Technology in line with the National Innovation Strategy launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to make the UAE one of the world's most innovative countries within next seven years.
The e-museum was launched during the inauguration of artistic exhibition of the winning works of the 12th edition of Al Burda Award by Sheikh Abdullah and Sheikh Nahyan.
Sheikh Abdullah toured the winning works, including those from the previous edition, which contained rare collections of the most beautiful and rarest paintings in calligraphy and ornamentation. He commended the e-museum and organisation of the show as well.
On his part, Sheikh Nahyan hailed the huge support for the cultural sector from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, adding that the ministry is keen on innovation and creativity.
He added that "The e-museum is a platform to demonstrate our Islamic and Arab culture as well as the artistic level attained by Emirati, Arab and Muslim artists."
