Thousands of participants for Abu Dhabi Striders Half Marathon
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Thousands of participants are set to take on one of the fastest courses in the UAE for the 31st Abu Dhabi Striders Half Marathon and 10k which will return to Yas Island on Friday, November 20th.

Organised by Abu Dhabi Striders, with the assistance of Gulf Multi Sport, the half marathon and 10km event take place on a mostly flat, IAAF-measured course starting at Yas Waterworld, taking in the Yas Plaza, Yas Marina, Ferrari World and Yas Mall, before returning to Yas Waterworld.

"We have made several minor changes to this year's course to keep it fresh and ensure a challenging-yet-fun test for all taking part," said Steve Watson, Managing Partner of Gulf Multi Sport and member of Abu Dhabi Striders. "The number of entries so far has been overwhelming and we are already nearly at capacity. People are getting excited about the course which is straight and fast – we're looking forward to seeing a lot of quick times in our biggest and best event yet."

The Abu Dhabi Striders Half Marathon and 10km has seen unprecedented growth over the years, from 300 participants in 2009 to 2,000 taking part last year on the event's 30th anniversary.

Entries for the Abu Dhabi Striders Half Marathon and 10K closed on 25th October. Participants will get a Saucony race shirt, Championship timing, a certificate, medal and refreshments, and free entry to Yas Waterworld for all runners following the race, allowing them to enjoy a well-earned opportunity to relax and cool down with friends.
