Charlotte Dujardin wins World Cup freestyle event

Charlotte Dujardin has dominated dressage in 2012 British dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin crowned a successful year with victory at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup freestyle event at the London Olympia. Gloucestershire's Dujardin, a double Olympic gold medallist, used her London 2012 horse Valegro to score an impressive 87.975%.
Upon completion, the 27-year-old was given a standing ovation by the 8,000 crowd in West London. Her routine was a repeat of the London 2012 showcase that featured strains of Land of Hope and Glory, interspersed with Big Ben chimes.
On Monday, Dujardin delivered a stunning world-record display to win her qualifier at the London International Horse Show. A score of 84.447% beat the previous best set by Dutch star Edward Gal and black stallion Totilas at the 2009 European Championships in Windsor.
Her horse, Valegro is co-owned by Hester and Roly Luard and there has been recent speculation that the horse might be sold for up to £3m. After her win, Djuardin said she was hopeful a deal could be done to keep the 10-year old in Britain. "Something spooked him going into the arena, and it just ruined the beginning of it. He was unsettled. It was a shame, but there were bits I was really happy with. Every day to me, having the horse, is another bonus. It will be fantastic if I can find a syndicate to keep him for me to ride him."
In the last eight months, Dujardin has set two world records and three Olympic records in her domination of the dressage world.
