Wikileaks has published a document that confirms that Gamal Mubarak, was slated to replace his father as President.

Wikileaks has published a document that confirms that Gamal Mubarak, was slated to replace his father as President. Wikileaks has published a document that confirms that the former-Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak’s son, Gamal Mubarak, was slated to replace his father as President. Gamal’s succession was widely rumoured , but this is the first formal evidence that confirms that the plan existed.
The document shows that the Egyptian army sent a leader of the National Democratic Party (Mubarak’s ruling party) to the US embassy in 2010  to reassure the US over the succession.
The document confirmed that the army would not stage a coup after Gamal’s succession, as they supported the inheritance.
However, a report published by the newspaper "Al-Ahram" two months ago said that the Egyptian army intended to stage a coup in May 2011, as a large number of the military leaders didn’t approve Gamal’s nomination.
The document also shows that the US warned Mubarak that the 2010 parliamentary elections would cause unrest.
Mubarak ignored these warnings, and carried out a highly-rigged election as expected.
He told the US that security services were ready to suppress opposition if they violated the government legitimacy.
The document has also revealed that Mubarak will use violence to deal with Muslim Brotherhood.
A second Wikileaks document has revealed that once in power, Gamal intended to build a strong relationship with Israel.
Gamal allegedly met secretly with the Israeli defense minister, Ehud Barak and the then-Secretary of State, Tzipi Livni in 2008 to discuss the plan.
