The upcoming midterm elections in the United States will be a convenient pretext to launch new attacks on Russia, the Russian Embassy in Washington wrote on its Facebook account on Friday.
"The sanctions pendulum that had been set in motion requires new 'justifications'. It can be expected that the upcoming midterm elections will also become a convenient pretext for new attacks on Russia, for accusing us of 'continuing interference'," the Russian embassy said.
"Despite repeated statements on our country's readiness to constructively cooperate on issues of cybersecurity, some politicians and bureaucrats in Washington prefer ungrounded accusations. At the same time they do not provide any evidence, so it is just slogan diplomacy," the embassy noted.
