Qais Al Sultani
Tunis - Hayat Al Ghanemi

Spokesperson of Tunisia’s General Directorate of Prisons and Rehabilitation Qais Al Sultani said that the authorities intensified their measures secure the prison cells in coincidence with the first memory of Ben Guerdane attack in which extremist elements attempted to establish their Islamic emirate on the borders with Libya.
During the attempt, the security and military units managed to kill 50 extremist elements and arrested over 40 others, while a number of extremists have escaped. Adel Al Ghandari is one of the elements arrested by the Tunisian security during the terrorist attack.
Sultani said the security authorities received threats in coincidence with the first memory of the attacks, stressing that they took the necessary measures to secure the prison cells. He added that Ghandari, who planned for the terrorist attack, has been transferred to solitary cell, saying that they took the same measures towards other extremist leaders.
According to the investigations, the extremist leader refuses to talk about the attack, while he always laments the killing of his friends Bashir Al Solimani and Ayman Sheinitar who have been killed during the same operation. According to sources, Ghandari acknowledged his defeat during the battles against the Tunisian security and military forces to control the area of Ben Guerdane.
In the beginning of his imprisonment, Ghandari was refusing to meet any of his relatives and to give any details about his group’s activities, while he returned to his normal life later, as he revealed details about the weapons stores they possessed in Ben Guerdane.
