Suicide bomb kills 2 soldiers in eastern Yemen

Security sources told Arab Today that an explosives-laden car was blown up at a military checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Shibam, in Hadramawt province.
The blast was followed by an exchange of fire between gunmen and the soldiers, before the attackers managed to flee.
Militants from al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) remain active in the south and east of Yemen despite relentless campaigns by government forces, backed by US drone strikes.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested two members of al-Qaeda in the central province of Taiz, Saba state news agency reported citing a security official.
The pair, who were nabbed in the area of Ossayfira, were plotting "terror acts" in the province, the official said.
Arab Today understands security forces seized a large number of weapons and explosive during the raid.
Meanwhile, Netherlands' Ambassador to Sanaa has said that the Dutch embassy in Yemen has been reopened after it was shut on August 7 due to a terror alert.
Dutch ambassador Jeroen Verheul met Yemeni foreign minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi on Thursday to discuss the current security situation in Yemen.
They touched on the efforts being exerted by the Yemeni government to release the two Dutch abductees, as well as the preparations underway for the Friends of Yemen meeting scheduled to be held in New York next month.
