The 11th ministerial meeting for Libya’s neighboring countries
Algeria - Rabia Khreis

The 11th ministerial meeting for Libya’s neighboring countries started in Algeria on Monday under the supervision of the Arab League and the United Nations. The agenda of this meeting includes important security files such as, extremist groups’ activities, illegal immigration and organized crime.

Head of the United Nations delegation to Libya, Martin Cobler confirmed that, the best solution for the Libyan crisis is a political agreement without any military intervention. He said in a statement after his meeting with Algerian Minister of Maghreb Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel on Sunday that, solving the crisis will not happen without the support of the international society and the neighboring countries.

On the other hand, the Nigerian Foreign Minister Ibrahim Yakuba said that this ministerial meeting will be an important step in the process of solving the Libyan crisis. He continued saying that, Niger’s participation in this meeting is a chance to express their concern about what is happening in south of Libya, especially the spread of extremist groups that may threaten Niger, confirming his country support to the Libyan dialogue with the participation of all Libyan parties.
