Memebers of Co-ordination of Democratic Opposition in Mauritania
Nouakchott - Mohamed Shina

Memebers of Co-ordination of Democratic Opposition in Mauritania The Mauritanian ruling party, Union for the Republic, launched on Monday a fierce attack against leaders of  opposition parties’, particularly targeting those from the 13-party Co-ordination of Democratic Opposition, accusing them of trying to avoid the ballot box but instead preparing to spread a state of mayhem, similar to that which occurred in some Arab and African countries.
Ould Osgeir, a leading member of the ruling party accused the opposition of looking for undemocratic change with the aim to create chaos and instability and to alter people’s convictions by using propaganda.
The leaders of the Co-ordination of Democratic Opposition held a press conference on Monday evening announcing that they have agreed to boycott the upcoming elections, and that they have decided to peacefully foil the vote that is scheduled to take place on October 12.
The head of the Opposition Coalition, Mohamed Abdel Rahman Ould Amin, said that current President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz has "kidnapped Mauritania and is ruling it by undemocratic means.”
The opposition questions the elections credibility since “the entire opposition” was sidelined during the preparations. It said “most of the Mauritanian people haven’t received identification cards, while the rest haven’t been registered yet and will not be registered anytime soon because the necessary circumstances aren’t available.”
