The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, stressed the importance of combating  extremism in all religions and cultures, calling for developing the dialogue between the followers of the religions and enhancing the principles of tolerance among them.
 
This came in a speech during a meeting, at his residence, in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, on Friday, with Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, and prominent Islamic and other religious figures in the country, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

King Salman stressed the importance of communication and dialogue between the followers of religions and cultures to promote the principles of tolerance, pointing out that religions seek to protect human rights.

The king indicated that Indonesia enjoys political stability and economic renaissance, as a result of the spirit of tolerance and coexistence between the sons of the Indonesian people of all denominations.

He also explained that the Kingdom has adopted the concept of dialogue among followers of religions and cultures, and contributed to the establishment of a dialogue center in Vienna, to promote dialogue between everyone.

For his part, the president of Indonesia spoke about the importance of the spirit of tolerance and moderation among the followers of different religions. He stressed his pride over the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to their country, which will contribute to the strengthening of cooperation for the good of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, according to the SPA.

A number of the Islamic figures spoke, expressing their thanks to the Custodian of the Two holy Mosques for visiting Indonesia, where they considered such important meetings as a great stimulus to spread the culture of moderation and tolerance, and to combat terrorism and extremism among the followers of different religions and cultures, as well as to achieve peace and international security.

The Saudi king continues his visit to Indonesia in his second Asian tour, coming from Malaysia, in a visit will last until 12 March. It will be the first time in 46 years that a Saudi king has visited the world's largest Muslim nation.

The Asian tour includes the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, Japan, China, Maldives and Jordan.
