International Coalition, led by the U.S, revealed that it opened an investigation the reports issued recently over the killing of a large number of civilians during the air raids launched by the coalition against the districts controlled by ISIS extremist group last week. The step came after statements from a number of military, political and administrative officials that over 120 persons have been killed during air raids against residential areas of New Mousl district.

United Nations High Commission for Refugees revealed that over 400 thousand Iraqis have been still besieged in the western side of the Iraqi city. Representative of the commission in Iraq Bruno Guido said, “The worst is yet to come. It is expected to find ourselves before new waves of displaced people during the coming period due to the continuation of the military operations to liberate Mousl.”

On the other hand, local sources of Nineveh said that the extremist elements arrested an old woman and her husband during their attempt to escape from the city’s right bank to the other areas controlled by the Iraqi governmental troops. They added that the extremist group punished them with flogging in July 17 district still controlled by the extremists.

Brigadier General Wathiq Al Hamadany, leader of Nineveh’s police said that the security forces managed to kill a suicide bomber loyal to the extremist group, saying that they resumed the inspection of the city’s buildings to eliminate the remnants of the extremist group.

On the political side, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi ended his visit to Washington in which he met with a number of the administration’s senior officials, including President Donald Trump. Abadi’s Spokesperson Saad Hadithi said that Abadi’s visit came upon two formal invitations from Washington, saying that the Iraqi official discussed a number of major issues with the American officials.

He added that the U.S Administration stressed its commitment to cooperation with the Iraqi government to confront the security challenges that the region faces during the current period. He added that the American officials expressed their keenness to resume their support for the Iraqi government on the political and military side.

The Iraqi official stressed that his government has a clear position from the Popular Mobilization Forces, saying that the Shiite force is considered a part of the Iraqi military forces. He praised the role performed by the force during the current war to liberate Mousl from the grip of ISIS extremist group.
