GCC Summit to be held amidst crucial regional developments Foreign Ministers of six Arab Gulf countries meet later on Monday to prepare for the 34th GCC Summit, to be held amidst crucial regional developments like the ongoing Syrian conflict and Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah will chair the ministerial meeting, to be attended by GCC top diplomats and the GCC Secretary General Abdulateef Al-Zayani.
The foreign ministers are due to discuss draft resolutions and final communique to be referred to the GCC leaders during two-day summit, which will begin tomorrow.
A wording committee met last night to prepare the draft resolutions and final communique. It ended last night session and is due to resume discussions today morning.
Last night, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled met with Al-Zayani last night and examined preparations for council's 129th ministerial session, in addition to reviewing the draft resolutions.
A ministerial preparatory meeting for the GCC summit was held in Kuwait on November 29th, which was attended by Jordanian and Moroccan foreign ministers.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said after the preparatory meeting that the Gulf states were keen to continue the process of cooperation and economic integration.
He added that GCC countries has overcome many serious challenges and threats and carried great responsibilities to fortify its security and energize its economies, including support to future challenges facing the GCC countries - Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman.
