A ministerial meeting of the neighboring countries held in Cairo
Cairo - Akram Ali

The foreign ministers of Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria reviewed the three countries' efforts in helping to find a compromise solution between all Libyan parties of different affiliations and orientations.

They agreed on an initiative of a comprehensive political solution in Libya, considering the pivotal role of Libya's neighbors' countries, United Nations and international and regional bodies, taking into account the key principles that have been agreed upon in the ten ministerial meetings of the neighboring countries held recently in Cairo, Khartoum, Algeria, Tunisia and Niamey.

The  ministers agreed on striving to achieve comprehensive reconciliation in Libya, without excluding any part, with the help of the three countries under the auspices of United Nations, and upholding the rule of the Libyan state and the unity of its territory, and the political solution as the only solution to the Libyan crisis on the basis of the political agreement signed on December 17, 2015.

They refused any military solution in the Libyan crisis and any external interference in the internal affairs of Libya, given that the settlement will be only among the Libyans themselves. In addition, the Libyan dialogue should  involve all parties, whatever their political or factional tendencies.

They agreed also on working to ensure the unity of Libyan institutions stipulated in the political agreement, such as the Presidential Council, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Council of the State, including the preservation of the unity of the Libyan army, under the terms of the Libyan political agreement, to do its national role in the preservation of the security and counter-terrorism and illegal immigration.

The three countries continue their efforts at the ministerial level to solve Libyan crisis. The Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi is scheduled to hold meetings with the three foreign ministers to discuss the results of the meeting.

Diplomatic sources revealed for Arabs Today that the Presidents of Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria will hold a tripartite summit in Algeria during the next month, according to discuss what has been discussed during the ministerial meeting on Libya.
