Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi stressed that the Libyan crisis will not be resolved away from a role for the neighbouring states, including Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria. He stressed that the participation of the three countries is a major cornerstone to push Libyan conflicting parties to achieve accordance.

The Tunisian President stressed the importance of Skheirat Agreement as a basis to resolve the Libyan crisis, while he has not ruled out the possibility of its amendment. He also revealed the details of talks that gathered him with his Egyptian and Algerian counterparts to find serious solution for the current crisis in Libya.

In case of the failure of neighbouring states' foreign ministers to reach an agreement over the ways to resolve the Libyan crisis, Essebsi said, there will be a tripartite summit to achieve this objective. He revealed that he will meet with Libya's military leader Khalifa Haftar in Tunis to discuss the ways to resolve the crisis.

He expressed readiness to meet with the different parties of the Libyan crisis, stressing that the solution should come from the Libyans themselves.

The statements came after the talks conducted between foreign ministers of Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria in the headquarters of Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The officials of the three countries discussed the ways to bridge the gap of difference among the Libyan conflicting parties and to draft bases for political solution for the Libyan crisis.

The initiative to resolve the Libyan crisis is based on four major factors, including pushing the Libyan conflicting parties to conduct a dialogue, refusing any military interference, implementing Skheirat Agreement, and supporting the role of United Nations as the major umbrella for any political solution for the Libyan crisis.
