Egypt police shoot dead 2 Brotherhood members

Egyptian students support Muslim Brotherhood run from tear gas fired in Cairo Policemen killed two armed members of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood in a shootout on Friday in the Nile Delta north of the capital, state news agency MENA reported. "Terrorist elements of the Brotherhood" opened fire on police on a road between Tanta and Al-Mahalla al-Kubra in the Nile Delta province of Gharbiya, it said.
MENA said they also tried to torch a traffic police checkpoint.
Two members of the group were shot dead in a firefight with police patrolling the road, one was wounded and others escaped, the agency reported.
The military-installed authorities have designated the Brotherhood a "terrorist organisation" under a crackdown since the army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last July.
Morsi belongs to the Brotherhood, an Islamist movement which swept all elections in Egypt following the fall of strongman Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
The ouster of Morsi, Egypt's first elected and civilian president, came after millions of demonstrators protested against his turbulent one-year rule.
