Hebron - WAFA

Dozens of students suffocated on Wednesday from inhaling tear gas during clashes with Israeli forces in the city of Hebron in the south of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

The sources told WAFA that clashes erupted near al-Nahda Boys School and the vicinity of Tareq bin Ziad secondary school in the Israeli-controlled southern area of the city.

Rouhi al-Zaro, head of al-Nahda school, said that Israeli soldiers provoked the students on their way to school, which resulted in clashes in which the soldiers threw tear gas canisters at the students. Dozens of the students suffered from suffocation and classes in both schools were disrupted.

Students who study in schools in the southern part of Hebron are regularly harassed by Israeli soldiers and settlers.
