A state of controversy has been raised inside the Algerian community over whether Muslim Brotherhood will participate in the government or not, as Algerian Community of Peace, political arm of Muslim Brotherhood, received an offer from Algerian presidency to join the government
The offer raised a state of division among the leaders of the group. Current Chairperson of Algeria’s Community of Peace Abdel Aziz Moqree expressed his readiness to participate in the government if the ruling authorities kept the integrity of elections. He also stressed the need for achieving accordance over the program adopted by the new government.
The position adopted by Moqree was strongly refused by other leaders of the group including former Minister of State Abu Jarra Al Sultani who advised the leaders of his party to find ways to restore their popularity in the street after the weak results that they achieved during the recent parliamentary elections held last week.
The former minister said on his page on Facebook that the current situation witnessed in the country requires a strong government that enjoys popularity calling for forming the new government from the parties that gained the first three positions during the recent elections with a number of efficient technocrats who can deal with the current challenges witnessed in the country.
He underlined that the new government should work seriously to overcome the current economic problem witnessed in the country in the light of the notable decline of oil prices since 2014, saying that the Algerian authorities should give priority to keeping the country’s position on the international and regional level.
On the other hand, leading member of the movement Abdel Rahman Saidi defended their right to join the coming government, saying that such issues should not be considered upon personal viewpoints while through the institutions of the party.
He stressed that the movement should consider its position in the Algerian political life on the basis of the results of the parliamentary elections held on last Thursday on one hand and the current conditions witnessed in the country on the other hand.
He stressed that the recent parliamentary elections provided a clear opportunity to the movement to review its position and to correct the mistakes it committed during the recent period, calling the movement for focusing on the coming local elections. He stressed that the coming local elections are considered critical for the movement’s future.
