The 28th Arab Summit will begin, on Wednesday, in the banks of the Dead Sea in Jordan, in the presence of 17 Arab leader.

This year, the Jordan Summit is gaining momentum and media attention to emphasize Arab cohesion, and to stress the need to combat terrorism and emphasizing Arab stands on the region's political, social and economic issues.

Arab leaders have arrived in the Jordanian capital, on Tuesday, to participate in the 28th Arab summit. Jordan's King Abdullah II received the leaders of the countries participating in the summit. The first to arrive today was the head of the presidential council of the national reconciliation government Fayez al-Sarraj, who heads the Libyan delegation.

The king also received Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Jelle, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The head of the Algerian National Assembly, Abdelkader Ben Saleh, arrived in the capital Amman to attend the summit, where he was received by Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Hani al-Mulqi.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Court Prince Hashem bin Al Hussein, the half-brother of Jordan's king, received the representative to Sultan Qaboos, and Prince Asaad bin Tariq bin Taymour al-Said on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport.

King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa, the king of Bahrain, and King Mohammed VI of Morocco, who has not attended the summit for 12 years, are expected to arrive in Bahrain. Prince Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad,  President of the State of Tunisia Béji Caid Sibsi, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and President of the Comoros, Ghazali Osman.

Saudi king Salman bin Abdul Aziz arrived in the Jordanian capital Amman on Monday, where he was received by King Abdullah II of Jordan. The Saudi king also received a popular reception.

The leaders of Algeria, UAE and Oman will miss the summit for health reasons, and the vacancy of a Syrian seat in the meetings of the Arab League. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterich will participate in the summit.

Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi said the attendance of the heads of the 28-nation Arab summit was unprecedented. Safadi stressed that Arab foreign ministers had agreed on 17 agenda decisions to be submitted to the leaders' meeting on Wednesday. 

He also added that one of the draft resolutions issued is the activation of the Arab peace initiative and the commitment of the Arab countries, and the adoption of the map of peace to ensure a two-state solution on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine. Safadi stressed that the summit will emphasize the terms of peace between the Palestinians and Israel based on the "two-state solution."
