Ayad Allawi wishes President Talabani a speedy recovery
Baghdad - Jaafar Al Nasrawi
Ayad Allawi wishes President Talabani a speedy recovery In a special statement to Arabstoday, Iraqi National Movement (or more commonly known as the al-Iraqiya List) leader Ayad Allawi said that "All rumours circulating through social network sites regarding a replacement for Iraqi President Jalal Talabani are unacceptable."
Allawi considered these speculations against President Talabani - who is currently being treated in Germany following a stroke – as immoral. He expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery and hoped the Iraqi President returned home as soon as possible in optimal health to continue his efforts towards Iraq stability and security
Allawi also denounced the arrest of Finance Minister Rafie al-Issawi’s bodyguards, describing the action as "illegal".
The former Prime Minister added that he was aware of the accusations addressed to al-Issawi and other Brotherhood members two years ago, pointing out that the Prime Minister mentioned files on the Iraqi political forces, both opponents and supporters, and threatened to use these files whenever necessary.
"This is unacceptable and must be rejected by Iraqi political and social forces as well as Iraqi judicial powers,"  Allawi said, adding that "the judiciary must distance itself from the executive authority to keep its independence."
