Authorities in United Arab Emirates have intensified Muslim Brotherhood crackdown
Abu Dhabi - Jamal Majaida

Authorities in United Arab Emirates have intensified Muslim Brotherhood crackdown Emirati Attorney-General Salem Saeed Kpich has referred 94 defendants in the Muslim Brotherhood case, to the Federal High Court on charges of attempting to seize power. Kpich said that "the organisation calls on community members to adhere to Islam principles and virtues, but their real goal is to rule the state, and stand against the fundamental principles underlying it."
In a statement, Kpich said: "They have planned for seizing power in secret meetings held in their homes, farms and other places," pointing out that Muslim Brotherhood had a "secret organisational structure and distributed roles and missions to achieve their real goals."
According to Kpich, the Brotherhood "adopted acts aimed at creating a hostile public opinion against the government and the country's leadership, using fabricated reasons and publishing their themes on various media, and social networking sites to antagonise citizens against state leaders."
He accused them of having contacts with international bodies, institutions and associations to tarnish the image of United Arabs Emirates, and of providing those bodies with false information to create international public pressure on the government of the state that could "weaken its foreign relations."
Kpich said that "Brotherhood agents" were targeting "all sectors of the state; its associations, schools, universities, and ministries, using some social work institutions as an interface to cover up their illegal activities." He added that they tried to attract members and taught them how to replace loyalty to their homeland with loyalty to the organisation and achieve the goal of seizing power."
Kpich declared that the organisation raised finances by investing money earned from their subscriptions and donations to establish commercial and real estate companies. "They purchased and invested in residential, industrial and agricultural lands, besides buying shares to conceal them from the state apparatus."
