London - Arabstoday

Driving down the Hoover Dam to enter Las Vegas was another memorable experience for the couple. "We stayed at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino for three nights and at the Stratosphere hotel for two days. Since we were visiting Vegas during the Memorial Day weekend, the city was bustling with life and the casinos were doing great business. But the five-day visit was just not enough to cover the entire Las Vegas Strip. Nineteen of the world's 25 largest hotels by room count are located on The Strip. We visited the Bellagio (made more famous by the movies, Oceans Eleven) as well as the enormous Caesars Palace which has 3,500 rooms. The Venetian was another casino resort that took our breath away. Thanks to a 3-D artificial blue sky that spans the ceiling of the entire hotel, the sun never sets there. The hotel also has a canal running across its property. Gondoliers invite tourists on gondolas for a tour of the hotel. The Eiffel Tower Experience at the Paris Las Vegas captures this vibe perfectly. The casino lies at the base of the tower with the back legs coming through the ceiling into the casino floor!" Shayne recalls. Casinos sure were fun even though Shayne lost US $1,000. "They bring in refreshments and pamper people so much that it's very easy to lose count of how much one is gambling. By the end of the tour, Nidhi and I managed to win US $300," Shayne informs. After the five-day trip of Vegas, the next stop was the GW Exotic Animal Memorial Park. "From lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, pythons, anacondas, bears and wolves to the crocodiles that Michael Jackson used to keep in Never-land, we saw everything. MJ had got into a lot of trouble when he kept those crocodiles at his Never-land ranch. After his death, the crocodiles were shifted to this exotic park. An interesting signboard caught our attention there. It said 'the management would not be responsible if the animals bite off a part of the body while the visitor tries to touch them!' Of course, we didn't even dare to get adventurous at the park," Shayne adds. The last leg of honeymoon was a two-day stop at New York City. "We took the Staten Island Ferry to the Statue of Liberty. It was a gloomy, rainy day and the clouds hung low over the city but that didn't disappoint us because we still had Vegas on our mind!" Shayne says. Though the Vegas trip might be over by the middle of June, Shayne is already gearing up for another vacation. This time around, it is to Australia. As a parting shot, Shayne shares his travel itinerary: "I've three concerts in Perth. Then, I'll be off with my wife's family on a New Zealand tour. For Halloween, I'll be going to the US."
