Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization of the UN body (UNWTO) Taleb Al-Rifai will visit the country tomorrow to become acquainted with the local tourism activity and discuss ways to develop it.
Director of Research and Tourist Information department at the Ministry Mansour Al-Nazhan said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) today that Al-Rifai and Regional Director of the organization Amro Abdel Ghaffar would discuss with the assistant Undersecretary for the tourism sector in the ministry Samira Al-Gharib various aspects of cooperation for the promotion of local tourism.
Al-Nazhan added that the visit of the World Tourism Organization delegation will also include holding formal meetings with government officials and private sector representatives as well as taking a tour of some of the tourist facilities and commercial complexes to become acquainted with the Kuwait's activities in this area.
He stated that the organization had already cooperated with the tourism sector in the Ministry of Commerce through a plan meant to develop this sector, noting that Kuwait is an active member in the World Tourism Organization which is a UN body and the Executive Agency of the United Nations Development Program.
