Arusha - Xinhua

Tanzania and Mauritius have signed a one-year pact to promote tourism destinations available in the two countries to the outside world.

The agreement was reached on Saturday at the ongoing ITB global tourism showcasing event in Berlin between the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA).

At the signing, Tanzania was represented by TTB managing director Devota Mdachi, while Mauritius was represented by the director of MTPA, Kevin Ramkaloan

According to Mdachi, the pact is meant to attract more visitors from as far as US, Australia, China, India and European countries.

She said that two organizations have agreed to join efforts in promoting their countries as the twin destination for the mutual benefits of their both respective countries by creating a conducive environment for tourists visiting Mauritius for beach holiday to also visit Tanzania for wildlife and adventure safaris.

"Our commitment is to promote Tanzania and Mauritius as a twin tourist destination so that tourists visiting Mauritius can as well visit Tanzania to experience other unique attractions available in the country such as varieties of wildlife in National Parks, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Ngorongoro crater," Mdachi said.

Ramkaloan also pointed out that the MTPA is pleased to partner with Tanzania Tourist Board since it has been their longtime intention to forge such a relationship due to the fact that the tourists visiting Mauritius wish to visit other exciting sites for their life history.

"It is obvious that Tanzania is the only country in Africa endowed with exclusive and spectacular tourist attractions where one could enjoy and become more excited. Air Mauritius which is a Mauritius National Carrier is also part of the signed agreement as a partner airline of MTPA," Ramkaloan said.
