London - Arabstoday

Maldives Marketing & Public Relation Corporation is inviting the UK to take part in the destination’s first social media campaign by attempting to make #SunnySideofLife a global twitter trend. Starting today, twitter users world-wide are encouraged to tweet their experiences of the idyllic tourist destination, with the main aim of the campaign being to make the tourism slogan a recognisable catchphrase associated with the Maldives. The campaign ties in with the Maldives’ 2012 tourism objective to attract one million visitors to the Maldives by the end of the year. The nation welcomed 931,000 visitors in 2011 and early indications suggest that the target is on track for 2012, with a 3.3 per cent visitor increase in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2011. Facts on the Maldives, hotel and resort information as well as news and promotions on events are likely to be popular tweet topics. MMPRC hopes that the twitter campaign will create a strong networking system for the travel and marketing industry involved with the destination. Former and future guests of the Maldives are also highly encouraged to share their experiences and pictures of the stunning islands to engage social media users on a more personal level.
