The airline's spokesman told media that the decision was made keeping in mind the safety of passengers and Emirates staff.
The spokesman in a statement said, "Emirates has suspended flights to and from Peshawar effective 25 June 2014 until further notice, due to the security situation at the destination. Affected passengers will be rebooked on alternative Emirates' flights and are asked to check on emirates.com for further updates.
"We apologize for the inconvenience caused - however, the safety of our passengers and crew is a top priority and will not be compromised." The website of Emirates airline said, "As this situation is beyond the control of Emirates, liability towards our passengers is limited in accordance with Emirates' Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage. Additionally passengers are advised to contact their travel insurers." The Dubai, United Arab Emirates based Emirates airline operates nearly 3,400 flights per week from its hub at Dubai International Airport to more than 133 cities in 74 countries across six continents.
Earlier on Tuesday night, an incident of firing on a plane arriving from Saudi capital Riyadh at Peshawar airport kills a woman and wounds two others including a flight steward.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesman, Mashood Tajwar confirming the incident said that the incident took place as the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing, with around 170 passengers on board, was landing at the airport.
The suspected attack follows a major militants' assault on southern Karachi city airport earlier this month that killed at least 32 people including all 10 attackers
