London - Arabstoday

Heathrow is preparing for its busiest seven days of the year so far, with more than 1.6 million passengers expected to pass through its doors in the first week of the Easter school holidays alone (Friday 30 March to Friday 6 April). As Brits get ready to make the most of the Spring break, the UK’s hub airport has forecast that Friday 30 March will be its busiest day with over 220,000 people heading home or jetting abroad for last minute skiing or guaranteed sunshine over the Easter weekend. 3.4 million passengers in total will pass through Heathrow during the two week school break (30 March to 15 April). According to forecast figures, Sunday 15 April - the last day of the holidays before the start of the new term - will see the most arrivals into Heathrow with 46,000 passengers scheduled to fly into Terminal 5 alone. To ensure everyone’s Easter journey gets off to smooth start, additional staff will be on-hand to help passengers, while dedicated family lanes and pre-flight play areas will cater for the thousands of families flying this holiday. There will be special appearances by Peter Rabbit, chocolate Easter treats and activity books plus Kids Eat Free deals in many of Heathrow’s restaurants. Normand Boivin, Chief Operating Officer at Heathrow said: Normand Boivin, Chief Operating Officer at Heathrow said: “The Easter holidays are a busy time for Heathrow as families, friends and couples make the most of the four day bank holiday weekend to get away.  This coming Easter, like any other day, we aim at making the journeys of the millions of passengers who will pass via Heathrow better and ensure their experience of Heathrow is a positive one.”
