Dubai - Arabstoday

Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZ) and Dallas/ Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) on Sunday, which sets forth a framework for a collaborative alliance between the two organisations. The MoU was signed by Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, Director General of Dubai Airport Freezone, and Jeffery P Fegan, CEO of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airport Freezone, Mike Rawlings, Mayor of the City of Dallas, and other senior officials from both DAFZ and DFW were present on the occasion. The signing of the MoU formalised the establishment of a Free Trade Zone Alliance between the two parties and outlined the framework of exchanging expertise, and benefiting from business opportunities in the global markets. Dr Zarooni said: “We are extremely privileged to sign this Free Trade Zone MoU with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. American businesses are amongst the 10 most active companies in the Freezone and through increased bilateral relations with DFW, we hope to take advantage of the business opportunities available in the DFW region.  The non-stop direct flight services between Dubai and DFW announced last month will provide a major boost to the trade relations between the two cities.” The signing of the MoU with DFW marks one of the most important initiatives by the Freezone during 2012, and we feel very privileged to be associated with them, added Dr Zarooni. “Through this alliance, we aim at creating a platform to conduct joint promotional activities using the most efficient and effective approaches to capture on any and all opportunities of cooperation to achieve our shared goals. We foresee vast potential in the future cooperation that is expected to come out of the MoU,” said Dr Zarooni. Fegan commented: “As we celebrate this historic occasion, we look forward to working together to connect two of the world’s most successful free trade zones in Dallas/Fort Worth and Dubai.” “Both Free Zones are strategically located with excellent operations providing outstanding services, facilitating trade and commerce and providing easy access to hundreds of destinations through many different airlines,” concluded Fegan.
