London - Arabstoday
Tuk-tuks zipping around, the heady smell of rambutans and lemon grass, hundreds of watering holes, handbags, lingerie, sarongs ... Just a minuscule of what one can do, if you have a few days in Thailand! Covering half a million square kilometres, Thailand is the fastest moving destination today. A 100-odd top class golf courses, 1000-odd restaurants, hundreds of kilometres of pristine coastline, and new-fangled resorts. The land of the Thais currently notches nine million visitor arrivals per year. At the centre of this bustling spectacle is Bangkok. Chatuchak - an open-air market really comes alive on weekends. Another good option is the Tokyo Deparmental Store and the adjacent Mah Boon Krong market. The Thais have turned massage into a way of life and there are parlours every few steps in the city. Prawns, crabs, oysters, snails, baby octopus - as well as fried grasshoppers - are available at every street corner. If shopping is not your style, head for Northern Thailand. Visit the kingdom's capital of Sukho Thai, Chiang Mai, Thailand's second largest city and Rose of the North. Phuket couldn't be further from the chaotic, noisy, traffic-choked Bangkok. Try the South Thailand SeaCanoe adventure, which departs from Phuket on Sunday mornings. The trip involves kayaking. Krabi has become a great rock climbers' delight. Phang Nga Bay, in the south-west has inspired many movie makers. Apart from these you find diving, boat cruises, rafting, jungle treks, cycling and kayaking in Phuket, Kao Lak, Krabi, Kho Samui and Kho Lanta. It is a must to visit the cabaret when one is a tourist in Pattaya, Thailand. Tiffany's is a spectacle that cannot be seen any where else. Pattaya Beer Bars, Go-Girl-Clubs and Pattaya massages are also extremely famous. Pattaya is only 147 kilometers away from Bangkok!
