Algiers - APS

A greater competition will allow the Arab airlines to counter the tough competition which marks the world air travel market, declared Monday evening CEO of Air Algérie, Mohamed Seghir Boultif. "To counter the tough competition which marks the world air travel market, we must reinforce our cooperation," he explained in a statement delivered at the opening of 45th General Assembly of the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO), in the presence of transport minister Amar Tou. He said that a “strong” decision must be translated by "concrete decisions" allowing an improvement of airport services as maintenance, a reduction of their prices. On the work of the 45th General Assembly of the AACO, Boultif said that they allow members to identify ways to better defend their market share internationally. With regard to the carbon tax imposed by the European Union (EU) to the airlines that activate on the market, he said that this measure, taken unilaterally, was inconsistent with the regulations governing international air transport and respect for sovereignty. The Chairman and CEO of Air Algeria has appealed to the EU to end the measure against which many countries have risen. Boultif has also stressed that the Algerian government attaches great importance to air transport because of its role in the sAocio-economic development of the country.
