Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday
Amadeus Gulf today announced the expansion of its operations in Oman and the appointment of its new Country Manager, Taji Pulikal in a strategic move to complement the fast-growing Omani travel and tourism sector. Responsible for the sectors of Oman, Bahrain and the UAE, Amadeus Gulf has exhibited significant growth in 2011 and continues to expand its customer base through diversifying its presence to meet the growing needs of local markets. As part of this endeavor, Amadeus is set to open doors to a new office in Dubai and relocate its operations to a larger, more modern premise within the heart of Abu Dhabi. Amadeus Gulf has witnessed over 10 per cent growth in the number of terminals in the region since 2010. A number of leading travel agents from the region including Omeir Travel, Abu Dhabi Travel Bureau ( ATB ) and Al Jaber in Abu Dhabi, Khimji’s House of Travel, Eihab Travel and Al Hashar Travel in Oman and Al Futtaim Travel in Dubai have recently signed agreements with Amadeus , appointing them as their technology partner of choice to further highlight Amadeus ’ growing presence in the region. Mohammed Salehi, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Travel Bureau ( ATB ), said: ” Amadeus has been successful in delivering best-in-class service in all aspects. Our technology partner for nearly three years, Amadeus continues to proactively innovate and develop products that suit the evolving market conditions. “A recent consultancy workshop organized by Amadeus has helped us understand existing gaps in our solutions, enabling us to better manage our business needs, increase efficiency and market reach and, of course, enhance the customer experience. We are pleased to have renewed our partnership with Amadeus and hope to strengthen our relationship with them in the years to come.” Amadeus Gulf ‘s expansion within the region comes on the back of a changing travel landscape and the need to enhance one-to-one contact and relationship management, personalize solutions and enhance service delivery to clients. Humayun Baig, Regional Market Manager, Middle East and North Africa, Amadeus , said: “The manner in which business is done in the region is evolving. The travel vertical is one domain where change is taking place at a fast pace. As a technology provider, it is essential for us to gear up our partners to embrace the change. “Our expansion and growth into these markets perfectly complements the advancement that the travel and tourism sector is witnessing in the region. It also underscores our commitment to providing the best possible solutions and service to our customers.” Recognizing the increasing need to educate the industry and contribute to its development, Amadeus Gulf has been committed to providing training to travel professionals. Over 150 sessions were conducted for 1,071 students in 2011 with numbers expected to increase by 10-15 per cent in 2012. Adrian Gane, General Manager, Amadeus Gulf , said: ” Amadeus Gulf is entering an exciting phase in its development - more customers, more business, and more products. The old days of simply amalgamating air segments are long since gone. Today, we are an integral part of the IT backbone of our agency colleagues - and one that allows them to provide first class service at a profit, ahead of the pack.” Amadeus is the technology provider of choice for the travel industry. It is currently present in the MENA region through 17 local Amadeus Commercial Organisations (ACOs) that service 21 countries.
