Manama - Arab Today

Following directives from the Personal Representative of HM the King for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Youth and Sports Ministry has contacted the national companies and banks to cooperate with it to provide planes to transport Bahraini spectators to Kuwait to support the Bahrain National Football team during their key 23rd Gulf Cup semi-final match against Oman on Tuesday.

Consequently, a number of national companies and banks responded positively to HH Shaikh Nasser’s initiative and directives, and allocated 12 planes to transport football fans to Kuwait, out of their commitment to supporting the youth and sport movement in the kingdom.

They include the Bahrain Petroleum Company (a large aircraft), the National Bank of Bahrain (two planes), the Kuwait Finance House (a large plane), the Bahrain Aluminum Company (a plane), the Bahrain National Gas Company (one plane), Viva Bahrain (one aircraft), Zain Bahrain (one aircraft), the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (one aircraft), the Gulf Petrochemicals Company (one aircraft) and the GFH Financial Group (one aircraft).

On the occasion, Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowdar expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser for supporting the national team during the Gulf Cup, which, he said, reflects his constant keenness on providing the success requirements for various national teams at various external sport gatherings, in line with the leadership’s directives.

He pointed out that HH Shaikh Nasser’s initiatives and directives have encouraged Bahraini spectators to rally behind the players during their Gulf Cup matches.

The minister paid tribute to the national companies and banks for responding positively to HH Shaikh Nasser’s initiative through allocating planes to transport fans to Kuwait to attend Bahrain’s key match against Oman.

The Youth and Sport Affairs Ministry said that it would announce the details of registration for the spectators later.
