Cairo - Arabstoday

Kabr Raheel (Rachel's Tomb) by Mohamed Azab, Cairo: Dar Al-Ain, 2012. The third novel by Egyptian writer Mohamed Azab reflects on the biblical story of Rachel, the second wife of Jacob, for whom he toiled for fourteen years, eventually to lose her soon after marriage while giving birth to her second son, Benjamin. Azab continues his search for answers to the questions on the deeper meaning of life and the alternative paths of asceticism or luxury. In this novel, Rachel is the wholehearted desires in life that one works hard to gain - and then looses.
