US, Russian presidents meet in Turkey

US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, sealed the agreement reached in Vienna and mediated by the UN, providing for a political transition and a ceasefire in Syria.
"Finding a solution to the conflict is an imperative made all the more urgent by the Paris attacks. From this standpoint, Obama welcomed the military efforts directed to defeat IS in Syria," said a White House official while commenting the outcome of an informal meeting between the two presidents on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Turkey, according to Italy's news agency (AGI). 

The meeting between the two presidents lasted 45 minutes and was "constructive", reported the official. 

The Kremlin remained detached and hastily informed that "differences" persist between Russia and the United States. 

During the informal meeting, Obama and Putin did not deny the differences of opinion on the solution to the Syrian crisis. Moscow and Washington, said Putin's foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov, "share strategic objectives on the battle against the so-called "Islamic State" although differences persist," AGI reported Sunday.
