Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held bilateral talks on Thursday with Jordan's King Abdullah II in Amman, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

The talks came on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in Jordan.

The two leaders praised distinguished relations binding both countries, voicing their keenness on continuing cooperation to serve the best interests of both countries and to protect the Arab issues.

King Abdullah expressed his country's firm stance in supporting Egypt to achieve further development and prosperity and enhance its status in the region.

For his part, President Sisi praised stances adopted by King Abdullah in supporting Egypt, commending Jordan's efforts to hold the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa, which provides opportunity to discuss the issues and challenges in the region.

They also tackled the latest regional and international developments, mainly the efforts exerted to revive peace talks between Palestinians and Israel based on the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.

They underlined the importance of facing terrorism and its various organizations that pose a threat to the security and stability of the peoples in the region.

They also stressed the need to clarify the real image of Islam that denounces violence and extremism and calls for moderation and tolerance.

As for the developments in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen, they called for finding political solutions for the crises in these countries to ensure the security of their people and lands.

The WEF on the Middle East and North Africa kicked off on Thursday in the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center near the Dead Sea banks, Jordan.
