NIHR chief discusses technical cooperation

National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) President Said bin Mohammed Al-Fihani met Professor Chris Sidoti, head of the team in charge of evaluating national institutions at the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF).
The two sides discussed technical cooperation to hold courses and workshops to enhance capabilities, based on the evaluative report of the national watchdog.
Al-Fihani welcomed assessment results, stressing NIHR readiness to start carrying out technical cooperation programmes to enhance capabilities.
Professor Sidoti was briefed on the NIHR report into the unannounced visit to women’s prison in Isa Town and results of the press conference which was held on September 10 to launch the report.
Professor Sidoti will hold a video conference with NIHR board of commissioners and employees on technical cooperation and the implementation of recommendations.
