Iraqi President Meets UN Official

Iraqi President Fuad Masum met here Monday with the UN Secretary-General Special Representative for Iraq Jan Kubis.
Masum stressed the importance of the UN mission's efforts (UNAMI) to encourage the international community to support Iraq, calling on the United Nations and the European Union to continue to assist the Iraqis in the war against terrorism, overcome the economic crisis, protect and assist internally displaced people and reconstruction.
For his part, Kubis renewed the United Nations readiness to provide every support to Iraq to realize stability, reconstruction and the return of displaced persons.
